Description
Let G be a graph with maximum degree 螖鈮3. Brooks' Theorem says that if G has chromatic number 螖+1, then G has a clique on 螖+1 vertices; otherwise G has chromatic number at most 螖. In 1977 Borodin and Kostochka conjectured that if G is a graph with maximum degree 螖鈮9 and chromatic number 螖, then G has a clique on 螖 vertices. For maximum degree 螖鈮13, we prove that if G has chromatic number 螖, then G has a clique on at least 螖-3 vertices. This is joint work with Landon Rabern.
