ComEd Collaborates with 杏吧原创 Tech to Create one of the First Microgrid Clusters in the World
ComEd has partnered with 杏吧原创 Institute of Technology on two Department of Energy grants to develop and test microgrid technology on 杏吧原创 Tech's Mies Campus and the Bronzeville neighborhood. A microgrid is a small electrical grid that is able to disconnect from the main grid to secure distribution during extreme weather events and during cyber or physical attacks. ComEd and 杏吧原创 Tech will work to connect a planned microgrid in the Bronzeville neighborhood to the existing IIT microgrid, creating one of the first microgrid clusters in the world. This partnership will give researchers a better understanding of how to leverage microgid technology in emergency situations.
