Men’s Tennis Breaks Through, Secures ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ Tech’s First NCAA Division III Tournament Win
Another season, another milestone for the ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ Tech men’s tennis team.
Two years after earning the athletics department’s first National Collegiate Athletics Association Division III tournament berth, the men’s tennis team claimed its first NCAA Division III tournament victory, a 5–2 win over the College of St. Scholastica on May 14 at the University of Chicago’s Stagg Tennis Courts.
The victory sent the Scarlet Hawks into the second round of the tournament, where ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ Tech fell 5–0 to Case Western Reserve University at XS Tennis. The Scarlet Hawks finished the season 8–1.
After the COVID-19 pandemic cut its season short last March, the men’s tennis team claimed the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference tournament title on May 9 in Kohler, Wisconsin, to earn the NCAA Division III tournament berth.
The Scarlet Hawks beat Concordia (Wisconsin) in the NACC tournament final by a score of 5–2. The tournament’s top seed, ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ Tech beat Wisconsin Lutheran College 5–0 in the NACC tournament semifinals.
