How to Add Outcomes to Existing Rubrics

If you have an existing rubric for an assessment that will also include Outcomes assessment, you can easily integrate Program or Core outcomes to your Rubric by following the instructions below.

  1. Create your assessment in Canvas by creating either an Assignment or Quiz.
  2. After you Save your assessment, click 鈥淔ind Rubric鈥 at the bottom of the assessment page and locate the desired Rubric.

  3. Your Rubric will appear. At the end of your existing Criteria, click the button to select 鈥淐reate from Outcome鈥. You'll see a Directory of the Outcomes available to you.
  4. Select the Outcome you wish to add to your rubric.
  5. Review the setting for 鈥淯se this criterion for scoring鈥. If you wish to use the outcome to score your students, leave it checked. If you don't, uncheck the box.
  6. Press Import.
  7. To add additional Outcomes, press 鈥淐reate from Outcome鈥 and select additional criteria.
  8. Press 鈥淪ave Rubric鈥 when you are finished.

It is highly recommended to review the Rubric and also 鈥淰iew as Student鈥 to review the assessment from the students' point of view.
