Transitioning to College
The transition to college is a new experience, it can present a few challenges and maybe even some confusion. ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ Tech’s first-year mentors are here to help incoming first-year students through that transition.
First-year mentors lead small groups of incoming students and introduce them to useful resources at ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ Tech. New students participate in discussions and events with their mentors throughout the academic year. Students may meet with their first-year mentors on an individual basis or as a group. By participating in these activities, first-year mentors will empower students to become more self-aware and engaged while navigating their first year at college.
Campus Resources and Encouraging Scholarly Success
Adulting is hard, and throughout the year students will learn about the various services available on the ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ Tech campus. These services are introduced to build various skills and techniques to help students cope with stress, time management, organizational skills, and work-life balance. Further enhancing a student's ability to develop helpful habits to succeed throughout their academic career.

Hi everyone! My name is Bilqis Alawiye, and I’m a 5th year Architecture major from Nigeria. I’m thrilled to be part of Red Line House this year as an FYE Mentor, and I’m also a member of the African Student Organization (ASO) on campus.
When I’m not in studio, you can usually find me making art, trying new places to eat, or spending a l day at an amusement park.
This school year, I’m excited to meet new faces, share ideas, and help you discover the community and opportunities waiting for you at ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ Tech!
Hey Scarlet hawks! I’m Jahvitha Atluri, a graduate student at the Stuart School of Business, majoring in Marketing Analytics. I’m originally from India, but I’ve been calling Chicago my home since a year—and I already love growing in this vibrant and windy city!
Outside of academics, I’m actively involved on campus as a Stuart School Student Ambassador, a Stuart Student Panelist, and now your FYE Mentor. I’m passionate about making the most of student life and helping others feel at home here at ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ Tech.
In my free time, you’ll find me baking something sweet , catching sunsets by the lake with friends or being a book bug—it’s my favorite way to unwind. I’m all ears for you all and always down to catch up and connect. Can’t wait to make this a great year together!
Hello! My name is Anoushka Chelimela, and I am from Hyderabad, India. I am currently entering my third-year majoring in Architecture. At ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ Tech, I am actively engaged in organizations like NOMAS, as one of their executive members, and AIAS.
In my free time, I enjoy sketching, trying new experiences in Chicago, and also love reading about animals—especially the weird, wild, and mind-blowing facts that make you say no way! Whether exploring the diverse architecture, visiting art galleries and shows, or simply trying new cultural experiences and foods, I find that these activities allow me to balance campus and city life.

My name is Aigerim Dzhumanazarova, but you can call me Aika. I am a junior Chemical Engineering student and I will be one of the First-Year Experience (FYE) Mentors at IIT! I am so excited to welcome you to campus! A little about me: I am from Kyrgyzstan originally, but I spent most of my time growing up in Indonesia.
